Man beaten, carjacked at hotel near Orlando airport, police say

1 arrest made, officers search for second culprit


ORLANDO, Fla. – A man was beaten and carjacked at gunpoint early Thursday at a hotel near Orlando International Airport, police said.

The carjacking was reported around 1 a.m. at the SpringHill Suites at 5828 Hazeltine National Drive near Semoran Boulevard and the Beachline.

Orlando police said the victim was beaten by two men who stole his money, phone and rented Dodge Challenger.

Police said an officer spotted the vehicle at South Semoran Boulevard and Lake Underhill Road. The driver of the stolen vehicle got onto State Road 408 west and crashed into a tree at Pine Hills Road and Indian Hills, police said.

One person was arrested at the crash scene, but the other remains at large, police said.

No other details have been released.
