Deputies working to identify remains

OSTEEN, Fla. – A death investigation was underway Sunday after someone found a set of human remains while mowing grass, the Volusia County Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies said a man and his girlfriend were on a tractor mowing the grass on Oak View Farms Road in Osteen at 9:37 a.m. when they came across the remains. A man who called 911 said there was a human skull and a backpack.

"I'm freaking (out). This thing scared the crap out of me. I never seen nothing like that. Oh, man," the man told a 911 operator.
