OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – An Osceola County father who was found guilty on Thursday of killing his 3-month-old son could be sentenced to death for his crime.

Larry Perry, 33, was convicted of first-degree murder and child abuse.

St. Cloud police said Perry beat Ayden Perry then called 911 and told the operator that he "went crazy" and attacked the infant. The boy's mother was in jail at the time.

The baby died at Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children a day later.

Perry's case was one of two dozen stripped from State Attorney Aramis Ayala and reassigned to a neighboring prosecutor after she announced that her office would no longer seek the death penalty.

Perry will return to the Osceola County courthouse on Monday at 9:30 a.m. for the penalty phase of his trial.
