Ocala woman laying in road killed in hit-an-run crash, troopers say

OCALA, Fla. – A 59-year-old woman was hit and killed Friday after troopers said she was laying on Spring Road in Ocala. The truck that hit Patricia Terry did not stop and left the scene, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the fatal crash happened at 5:40 a.m. at the intersection of Spring Road and Spring Loop Circle, according to the crash report.

"For unknown reasons, Ms. Terry was laying in the roadway," according to the FHP.

A dark-colored pickup truck was driving south on Spring Road and ran over the victim Terry, troopers said. Terry was wearing bright red pants and a multi-colored top.

The pickup continued driving south on Spring Road and left the scene, according to the report.

Terry was pronounced dead at the scene.
