2 shootings occur at Deltona home in less than 5 hours, deputies say

Deputies: Man injured in first shooting

DELTONA, Fla. – A 29-year-old Deltona man was injured Saturday night when he was shot while sitting in his garage, Volusia County deputies said.

Deputies said someone fired shots at Rashadd Griffin from inside a vehicle around 8:30 p.m. while he was in the garage at his home on Lawrence Avenue.

A witness who heard Griffin shouting for help after the gunfire hit him in the abdomen wrapped a towel around his wound and drove him to a hospital in Orange City, the Sheriff's Office said. Griffin was later transported to Central Florida Regional Hospital in Sanford, deputies said.

Around 1 a.m. Sunday, deputies went to Griffin's house again after someone reported that two shots were fired at the home during a drive-by shooting, the Sheriff's Office said. Deputies said they found two bullet holes near Griffin's front door and another in a couch inside the house.

The Sheriff's Office said both shootings are being investigated.
