JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police warned the public Monday afternoon to be on the lookout for an inmate who escaped from a work detail in the Brierwood neighborhood near Baymeadows.

Matthew Olsen, 23, was being held in the Montgomery Correctional facility off Lannie Road on charges of probation violation from dealing in stolen property.

Olsen is described as a white man, 5 feet, 8 inches tall, weighing 185 pounds. He was last seen shortly after 1 p.m. in the Brierwood area wearing blue pants and black work boots and running with his shirt off.

He has multiple tattoos on his face, arms and chest, police said.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said Olsen could be anywhere, and it's not known if he has gotten into a vehicle.

The South Old Kings Road, Baymeadows, Philips Highway, San Jose Boulevard and San Clerc Road areas were advised to be on the lookout.
