HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – A homeowner snapped a picture of the getaway vehicle four burglars fled in after they stole jewelry and rum from his Howey-in-the-Hills residence, according to the Lake County Sheriff's Office.

The victim came home around 5 p.m. Wednesday and noticed a gray Lexus in the driveway, but initially he thought it was his wife's boss. When he opened the garage door, four unknown males came running out and ran, deputies said.

The homeowner dropped the books he was holding and used his cellphone to get a picture of the vehicle as it sped toward him, nearly hitting him, according to the affidavit. He then called 911.

A deputy saw the Lexus on State Road 19 and conducted a traffic stop.

Travis Patten, 19, was driving, and Treyvious Caruthers, 19, Tramell Richardson, 18, and a 17-year-old boy were also inside the vehicle, a report said.

Deputies said they searched the teens and the vehicle and found $300 worth of jewelry, Crown Royal whiskey and $50 that had all been stolen from the victim's home.

Patten told deputies that the stolen jewelry in his pocket was given to him as payment from the other teens for acting as their Uber driver, the report said.
