Deputies catch wanted man after he fled in central Brevard

Man wanted for failure to pay child support

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – A man wanted for failure to pay child support fled from deputies on foot and by car before he was apprehended Friday afternoon, the Brevard County Sheriff's Office said

The incident happened about 2:30 p.m. on Friday Road near State Road 524, east of Interstate 95. The Sheriff's helicopter and a K-9 unit joined deputies in the search. Deputies were searching the area near the Cocoa Expo, located at 500 Friday Road, reported News 6 partner Florida Today.

Sheriff's spokesman Tod Goodyear said the man was on foot before he got a ride from a friend. Deputies later made a traffic stop about 4 p.m. and took the man into custody. He complained of chest pain and was being treated at a hospital as of 5 p.m., Goodyear said.
