Motorcyclist run over, killed after losing control in rain on I-75, FHP says

Victim identified as Jason Kelchner, 31

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – A motorcyclist was killed early Sunday after losing control of his bike on Interstate 75 North at mile marker 365.5.

The Florida Highway Patrol said Jason Kelchner, 31, of Archer, Florida, was traveling north on I-75 on his motorcycle when he lost control in the rain and laid his bike down on its side before it overturned and came to a rest against a tree.

Troopers said a Chevy Tahoe traveling right behind Kelchner subsequently ran over Kelchner, swerved and traveled across the lanes before coming to a rest on a grassy shoulder.

The FHP said another vehicle believed to have ran over Kelchner did not stop at the scene.

Troopers said charges are pending.
