SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – A juvenile detention specialist is accused of groping a 17-year-old girl who was participating in a program for juvenile offenders, according to the Seminole County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said the victim told them that on Aug. 1 she was in a van used for the Sheriff’s Work Ethics and Training program, which is a community service program for youth on probation and conditional release, when Juan Fabian began to grope her.

The 17-year-old victim tried to use her arm to block Fabian but the more she fought, the more he touched her, according to the arrest report.

The victim told deputies on Wednesday that she was initially afraid to report the incident because she didn't think anyone would believe her, authorities said.

Fabian was arrested Thursday on a battery charge.

“This type of behavior will absolutely not be tolerated,” Seminole County Sheriff Dennis Lemma said. “We hold the men and women of this agency to the highest standards. This is a violation of the public trust and is completely contrary to our agency’s core values.”

Officials from the Sheriff's Office said they are in the process of terminating Fabian from his position as a juvenile detention specialist.
