Plans to revitalize downtown Kissimmee approved

Initiative will help attract more visitors, supporters say

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – City leaders in Kissimmee are moving forward with plans to revitalize the downtown area.

The City Council passed a plan Tuesday night to add bike lanes to Emmet Street, re-time all the traffic lights and make some crosswalks more pedestrian friendly.

Supporters say the changes will ultimately lead to more visitors to the area.

Construction is expected to start in either 2020 or 2021.
