Man, 33, injured in Daytona Beach road rage shooting, deputies say

Deputies: Victim shot after argument in Motel 6 parking lot

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A 33-year-old man was shot during a road rage incident Sunday morning at a motel, Volusia County deputies said.

Deputies said the shooting took place around 4:30 a.m. at the Motel 6 on West International Speedway Boulevard in Daytona Beach after an argument occurred between the occupants of three vehicles.

The victim was riding in one vehicle with two other people when they were cut off by a pair of vehicles at the intersection of International Speedway Boulevard and Tomoka Farms Road, deputies said. All three vehicles pulled into the motel parking lot and the occupants argued.

A witness said the shooter was with a group of several men who fled after the shooting, according to the Sheriff's Office. Deputies said the witness described the cars as a newer silver car, possibly a Mazda with Oregon plates, and a blue Infiniti.

The victim was shot in the left side of his stomach, deputies said. He suffered injuries that were not life-threatening and was taken to Halifax Health Medical Center.

Deputies said the shooting is still being investigated.
