Witnesses sought in slaying of Kissimmee police officers
Matthew Baxter, Sam Howard shot dead in line of duty
KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Kissimmee police said on Wednesday that they are trying to locate additional witnesses in the shooting of two officers who were killed in the line of duty.
Kissimmee police Officer Matthew Baxter, 27, and Sgt. Sam Howard, 36, were shot Friday night in the area of Cypress and Palmway streets.
Baxter was pronounced dead at the hospital later Friday. Howard died the next day.
Everett Glenn Miller, 45, was arrested on a charge of first-degree murder. More charges are forthcoming, police said.
Police said they have spoken to at least two men who saw Miller fatally shoot Baxter and Howard, including one man who had a video of the interaction between the men leading up to the gunfire.
Maribel Gonzales King was identified Sunday as a person of interest in the case. Police said later that same day that King had been located for questioning. She is not considered a suspect.
