The car left the roadway, and the right front of the vehicle struck a power pole, splitting the car in half, troopers said.

The front right passenger was ejected from the car and died at the scene. Troopers identified the passenger as Ronald Sankar, 28.

The driver suffered minor injuries, and another passenger suffered critical injuries, according to the FHP's report.
