Woman charged with DUI after head-on crash in Daytona Beach

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A woman has been charged with DUI after she crashed her vehicle head-on into another vehicle Sunday night, according to the Daytona Beach Police Department.

Kathlene Elizabeth Cutlip, 23, was driving south on Williamson Boulevard shortly before 9:30 p.m. Another vehicle in front of her was stopped at the time, waiting to turn left onto Strickland Range Road.

Police said Cutlip left her lane and entered into the northbound lane, hitting John Frederick Salter's vehicle, which was driving northbound, head-on.

 A vehicle that was behind Salter's crashed into the front of Cutlip's vehicle, which caused her vehicle to crash into the vehicle the was waiting to turn left onto Strickland Range Road, the report said.

Satler, 30, was taken to Halifax Health Medical Center as a trauma alert. Police said he is in critical condition. The other motorists involved in the crash were not seriously injured.

Police said they determined that Cutlip was driving under the influence when she caused the crash. She was charged with DUI causing serious bodily injury to another, DUI with damage to a person or property and child neglect. 

Authorities did not provide details on why Cutlip was charged with child neglect.

Dayona Beach Police Chief Craig Capri said he will see if it is possible to get a traffic light installed at the intersection where Sunday night's crash happened.
