Loaded gun, marijuana found on duo in vehicle at Oviedo High School, police say
Jared Diaz, 19, and Tara Troutman, 18, arrested Wednesday
OVIEDO, Fla. – Two people were arrested Thursday after police said they found a loaded gun and marijuana in the suspects' vehicle.
Police said someone on the administration asked Jared Diaz, 19, and Tara Troutman, 18, to leave the school property after the vehicle they were in on campus was deemed suspicious.
However, police said, the two continued to drive through the campus and into the bus loop, where they were stopped by officers who described them as seeming to be under the influence and the car as having the odor of marijuana.
Diaz and Troutman were detained as officers searched the vehicle, in which they found a small plastic bag containing a green leafy substance, a scale containing what appeared to be marijuana residue and a loaded gun, police said.
The Oviedo Police Department said the substance tested positive for marijuana.
Diaz and Troutman were taken into custody.
Troutman is charged with trespassing on school property with a weapon. Her bail was set at $3,000.
Diaz is charged with trespassing on school property with a weapon, possession of marijuana and possession of drug equipment. His bail was set at $4,000.
