Neighbors flee motel after shots reported

Orange County deputies say 1 person arrested

ORLANDO, Fla. – Orange County deputies are investigating reports of shots fired Saturday afternoon at the InTown Suites on Lee Road.

Those staying at the motel and people who work nearby told News 6 they heard at least one gunshot near a first-floor unit of the motel.

"While I was outside helping a customer, there was a gunshot that went off on the lower level here," said Sam Kurukawa, who works next door and was one of several people who called 911.

News 6 watched as K-9 units searched the property and deputies scoured a stretch of Lee Road as part of the investigation.

"As far as gunshots, it's very unusual, but police activity is kind of normal [around here]," Furukawa said.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office said one person was arrested for aggravated assault with a firearm and violation of probation.

No one was injured, deputies said.
