Officer bitten by dog while responding to Edgewater home, police say

Police: Officer treated for minor injury


EDGEWATER, Fla. – An Edgewater police officer was taken to the hospital after being bitten by a dog Monday, the Edgewater Police Department said.

The officer was responding to a home on Oak Street in Edgewater when a dog was let out of a spare room, police said.

Police said the officer went to pet the dog when it nipped his arm.

The officer was treated at a nearby hospital for his injury, which was considered to be minor, police said.

Police did not say what breed of dog was involved in the incident or why the officer was responding to the home.
