Brevard parents accused of fighting juveniles in street, leaving baby unattended
Three-month-old in back seat when father struck victim with car, deputies say
BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – Christina Allen-Ammi, 21, of Titusville is behind bars Friday for a street fight deputies say she and her 20-year-old boyfriend, Evan Grant, started with a 17-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl who they used to be friends with.
The Brevard County Sheriff's Office said the incident happened back on Sept. 24 around the 2700 block of Aurora Road in Melbourne.
Six weeks later, Allen-Ammi only just made her first appearance before a county judge Friday, because deputies said since the fight she was in a hospital for an unrelated reason.
"While this altercation was going on, they left a 3-month-old in the vehicle, unattended," Tod Goodyear of the Brevard County Sheriff's Office told News 6.
Goodyear said the couple's baby was in their car when -- after some blows were dealt -- Allen-Ammi got back in the car with her boyfriend and then Grant used the car as a weapon to hit one of the victims.
Both the 17-year-old and the 15-year-old survived.
"The violent nature of it. The fact that there's a 3-month-old child in the back seat and put the child in a great deal of danger, the state believes that her actions were a danger to the community," an assistant state attorney said during Allen-Ammi's first appearance Friday.
Grant faced a judge after the incident back on Sept. 24.
He's since been released on bond.
Speaking with News 6 from his home in Palm Bay Friday, Grant denied the allegations against both himself and his girlfriend.
