1 dead, another hurt in Marion County crash, troopers say

Crash happened at State Road 40, Southwest 140th Avenue


MARION COUNTY, Fla. – One person is dead and another person was hurt in a crash Friday afternoon in Marion County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The crash happened around 3:45 p.m. at State Road 40 and Southwest 140th Avenue.

Troopers said a 1999 Nissan was heading east and a 2017 Toyota was heading west on State Road 40.

The Nissan veered over the center lane divider. Troopers said the left front of the Nissan collided with the left front of the Toyota.

The driver of the Toyota was taken to Ocala Regional Hospital by Shands Care, where the driver was pronounced dead, troopers said. The driver of the Nissan suffered serious injuries.

The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
