Man, 26, shot to death in Leesburg, police say

LEESBURG, Fla. – A 26-year-old man was fatally shot in Lake County early Saturday, the Leesburg Police Department said.

Police said they found the man, who was later identified as Vontay Silas-Pruitt, lying in the road at the intersection of Washington and East streets just after 12:15 a.m.

Officers said Silas-Pruitt had been shot in the torso multiple times.

Silas-Pruitt was treated at the scene, then taken to Leesburg Regional Medical Center, where he later died, police said.

Police did not say whether they had identified a possible suspect, but said the shooting was still being investigated.
