Advice for driving in Downtown Orlando this Saturday

ORLANDO, Fla – With the Florida Blue Florida Classic at Camping World Stadium, Savor the Night at Orlando City Hall, Beethoven & Mozart at the Bob Carr Theater, La Boheme at the Dr. Phillips Center for Performing Arts and the Orlando Magic's game against the Utah Jazz at the Amway Center, all taking place on Saturday night, Orlando will be closing roads and detouring traffic in unusual ways this weekend.

To compensate, Orlando officials have released some tips and recommendations for how best to navigate what promises to be a busy Saturday downtown.

City officials encourages anyone driving to an event downtown on Saturday night to plan their route according to the address of wherever they plan on parking, as opposed to the venue itself. A full list of parking locations in the downtown area can be found here

Unless otherwise noted, all closures will begin and end on Saturday. A full list road closures and how long they will be closed includes:

- Gertrudes Avenue between Jefferson Street and Washington Street
·         Closed through February 15, 2018


- Hughey Avenue between Church Street and South Street
·         Long-term closure expected to be in place until late 2018


- Church Street between Rio Grande Avenue and Tampa Avenue
·         Currently closed and will remain closed until 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 18 


- Tampa Avenue between Central Boulevard to Church Street
·         Closure begins at 10:00 a.m. on November 17 until 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 20


- South Street between Boone Avenue to Orange Avenue
·          Closure begins at 6:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.


- Church Street between Orange Blossom Trail to Rio Grand Avenue
·          Closure begins at 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. 


- Colyer Street between Norton Avenue to Rio Grande Avenue
·          Closure begins at 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. 


- Nashville Avenue between Central Boulevard to Church Street
·          Closure begins at 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. 


- Rio Grande Avenue between Anderson Street and Central Boulevard
·          Closure begins at 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. 


- South Street between Norton Avenue and Rio Grande Avenue
·          Closure begins at 7:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. 


- Hughey Avenue between Central Boulevard and Church Street
·         Closure begins at 3:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m

 
- Church Street between Division Avenue and Garland Avenue
·         Closure begins at 3:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. 


- Pine Street between Hughey Avenue and Garland Avenue
 ·        Closure begins at 3:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. 


- Magnolia Avenue between South Street and Anderson Street
·         Closure begins at 6:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m.

The city will also be working closely with the GPS navigation app "Waze" to make sure that it will have the most up-to-date information on the status of roads being opened and closed this weekend. 

Additionally, visitors should be mindful of other existing forms of transportation, like LYMMO bus services and bike-sharing, which can assist patrons in reaching their final destination downtown.
