Woman carjacked while vacuuming new Camaro at Deltona gas station

'Please don't do this to me,' victim told carjacker

DELTONA, Fla. – Deputies in Deltona are investigating after a woman was carjacked at a RaceTrac gas station.

The 23-year-old victim told News 6 that the sun had just set on Tuesday evening when she was using the vacuum to clean her 2013 Chevy Camaro.

The woman said a man jumped out of another car and jumped into her driver's seat.

"Is he going to shoot me? Is he going to stab me? Is he going to hurt me?" the victim said. "I kind of leaned in the car and said, 'Please don't do this to me.'"

The keys were in the ignition with the engine running.

"I tried grabbing the keys three times to turn off the ignition at least to get out of the car and get away from him and he slapped my arm three times," the victim said.

The young woman said she bought the convertible Camaro in October. She said it was her dream car that she'd been saving up for.

"Two weeks ago from today, so I haven't really been driving it that long," she said of purchasing her car. "(It was) enough to put insurance on it and drive it a few times to work and back home."

The victim said employees of the RaceTrac came out, offered her water and helped console her while waiting for deputies to arrive.

"I didn't expect it to happen to me, but I mean, it's a nice car. It's new. Maybe I looked like an easy target," the victim said.

Anyone with information on the stolen 2013 white Chevy Camaro convertible is asked to call the Volusia County Sheriff's Office.
