FHP: Crash at Peavine Road, State Road 60 being investigated

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – Three people were killed Friday night in a fiery Osceola County crash and two others were injured, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The crash happened at 9:20 p.m. at Peavine Road and State Road 60.

Troopers said the driver of a four-door Honda was traveling east behind a Jeep on State Road 60 while the driver of a Chevrolet pickup truck was going west.

The driver of the Honda, later identified as Jonathan Rodriguez Garcia, 22, of Kissimmee, was partially in the westbound lane when the front of his car hit the front of the pickup truck, the Highway Patrol said.

Garcia and his passenger, 22-year-old Isiah Wilborn, of Haines City, were pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.

After the crash, a box truck that was behind the pickup truck slammed into the back of the pickup truck before the box truck veered off the roadway and burst into flames, according to the crash report.

The 33-year-old woman driving the Jeep then hit both the pickup and box trucks, the report said.

Troopers said the driver of the box truck, who was not immediately identified, also died at the scene. The drivers of the Jeep and the pickup truck were taken to Osceola Regional Medical Center for their injuries, troopers said.

The Highway Patrol said it was unclear whether Garcia was trying to pass the Jeep when the initial crash took place.

Troopers said the crash was still being investigated.
