Inflatable Santa Claus decoration stolen from Ormond Beach yard

Ariel Winn says 3-year-old son picked out decoration himself

ORMOND BEACH, Fla. – A mother says someone stole an inflatable Santa Claus decoration from her front yard, leaving her son devastated.

"Christopher went to get out of the car and he was like, 'Mommy, where's my Santa Claus?' I walked over and it was just gone," Ariel Winn said.

Winn said she has been living alongside Hand Avenue in Ormond Beach for eight years. This year, she decided to put out the Christmas laser lights and a blow-up Santa Claus. It's a decoration she said her 3-year-old son, Christopher, picked out himself.

"We let Christopher go to the store pick out the inflatable he wanted. He wanted Santa Claus," she said.

Winn said they returned home Friday morning to find the lights still there, but Santa gone.

"The whole cord and everything was gone. It was literally right there at the corner of the house and that means that we're like within this close to our front door," Winn said.

Upset by what happened, Winn posted it on Facebook. It wasn't long before a man and his wife got results and reminded them what the holidays were all about.

"They handed my son a bag, a Christmas card, and said, 'We picked you something up at the store.' He opens it and was like, 'New Santa Claus!" Winn said. "I just want to know why, why my Santa Claus?"

Winn said she's nervous to put the new Santa outside knowing the other one was stolen. She said instead they'll keep it in the house, where it's safe.
