Armed man threatens girlfriend on Facebook Live, deputies say

Young child, infant inside unit at Buchanan Bay apartment during video

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Deputies have called off their investigation after an armed man reportedly threatened his girlfriend on Facebook Live Sunday afternoon.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office said it received several calls around 3:15 p.m. about the Facebook Live video and said that there was a 4- to 5-year-old child and a 10- to 11-week-old infant inside a unit at the Buchanan Bay apartments at 1915 Buchanan Circle.

Officials said the incident appeared to have began as a verbal altercation.

After deputies responded, they said the woman and children made it safely out of the apartment, but they believed the man to still be inside.

The Sheriff's Office said the girlfriend, who also had a knife during the Facebook Live video, told deputies she was not in fear for her life and that she didn't know if he pointed the gun at her.

Officials said people were evacuated from several apartments while they were investigating.

Deputies said while they didn't know if the man was still in the apartment, the girlfriend declined to press charges, so they shut down their investigating at the complex.

A woman who lives in the area said she was unable to get into her home, where her two daughters, ages 10 and 16, were.

The woman said just last month she was also unable to get into her home where her kids were because of a murder-suicide.

No other details were immediately released.
