Not-so-sly Florida crook caught jumping from balcony

NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. – A Florida criminal found out the hard way that you can never outsmart the police.

Several law enforcement units responded to an apartment complex in New Port Richey on Friday after learning Rashad Walker was located inside.

Walker, 28, was wanted on multiple felony warrants in Orange County, including second-degree attempted murder and aggravated battery with great bodily harm.

When police knocked on the front door of the unit, Walker believed his best chance for escape was to exit through the back of the apartment and jump from the second-floor balcony.

However, Walker was quickly apprehended by police who were one step ahead and positioned underneath the balcony.

Walker was arrested and taken to the Land O' Lakes jail.

Warrant Served

**LANGUAGE WARNING***arrest of wanted felon Rashad Walker, 28 of Maitland, FL. On 1/12/18 the Warrants unit, District 1 STAR, and Marine Unit responded to the Ashton Oaks Apartments in New Port Richey, FL after receiving information that wanted fugitive, Rashad Walker, was in an apartment at the location. Rashad currently had Felony warrants out of Orange County, FL for 2nd Degree Attempted Murder and Aggravated Battery with Great Bodily Harm. Due to the severity of the crimes, multiple units surrounded the apartment. Once units began knocking at the front door, Rashad exited the apartment from the back sliding glass door and jumped to the ground from the second story. Multiple units were on the ground waiting for Rashad at which time he was safely apprehended and later transported to the Land O’ Lakes Jail.
