Man injured in drive-by shooting, Orlando police say

Victim found in parking lot suffering from gunshot wound

ORLANDO, Fla. – A drive-by shooting Sunday afternoon left a man injured, according to the Orlando Police Department.

Authorities said they were called to an apartment complex at 5365 Cinderlane Parkway at 12:04 p.m. and found a man in a parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound in the leg.

The victim was uncooperative and was only able to tell police that he was injured in a drive-by shooting involving a silver sedan, according to a news release.

The victim was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center for treatment.

"It was loud and traumatizing and I thought it actually hit me," one woman, who lives in a nearby apartment, told News 6.

That woman, who did not want to be identified, detailed how a bullet from the shooting ended up in her apartment.

"I heard a gunshot, then another one, and I heard glass break, and I told my boyfriend, 'They shot into our apartment,'" she said. "Kind of surprising, and I thought I was safe here. Now I'm ready to move and get out of here."

That woman and her boyfriend are OK, but she said she couldn't believe what they heard while they were sitting on their back patio.

"I was checking my body to make sure I was OK, because that's how loud and close it seemed," she said.

The woman found the bullet, which made its way through her living room and into her kitchen, and ended up in a cabinet.

Now she said she has a message for whomever is responsible.

"An innocent life could've been taken today because of what you chose to do," she said.
