2 dead in head-on crash in Brevard County, troopers say

State Road 407 near I-95 blocked Saturday night due to crash

BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – Two people died Saturday night in a Brevard County crash, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened at State Road 407, or Challenger Memorial Parkway, and I-95 around 9:30 p.m.

According to the report, Argelio Chappotin, 55, was northbound on S.R. 407 in a 2016 Ford Edge when, for an unknown reason, he drove into the southbound lanes and hit a 2000 Buick four-door head-on. 

Chappotin later died at Parrish Medical Center. 

One of the passengers in the Buick, Martha McHenry, 55, also died. 

The driver of the Buick, Larry Stubbs, 55, and another passenger, Margaret McHenry, 57, were taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center in serious condition. 

There is no update on Stubbs or Margaret McHenry's condition.  

State Road 407 was blocked Saturday night due to the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
