Evacuations lifted as wildfire burns in Polk County, officials say

Crews work to put out 450-acre fire

POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A 450-acre fire was threatening homes in Polk County Sunday, Florida Forest Service officials said.

Because of the threat, some people were evacuated earlier in the day, but the evacuation was lifted Sunday night.

Crews said they have bulldozers, brush trucks and a helicopter at the scene.
