Vehicle slams into motorcyclist, driver runs from scene, Orlando officials say

Motorcyclist taken to ORMC in critical condition

ORLANDO, Fla. – Police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that left a motorcyclist critically injured Tuesday night.

About 7:30 p.m., the driver of a blue Honda Civic struck the motorcyclist at Ivey Lane and Gore Street, then got out and ran from the scene, said Lt. Philip Mayo with the Orlando Police Department.

The driver has been only described as a light-skinned man, possibly black or Hispanic, who was last spotted running into a neighborhood. News 6 watched as police dogs try to track down the suspect.

“Unfortunately, there was a lot of foot traffic, so it was hard to conduct a search,” Mayo said.

At last check, the suspect's car, which has expired license plates, remained at the crash scene, Mayo said.

The motorcyclist was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center in critical condition, Mayo said. His name hasn’t been released, and he’s only been identified as male.

Southbound traffic was diverted at Cypress Street, and northbound traffic was diverted at Piedmont Street.

Anyone with information about the crash is urged to call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.
