Dalton Kincaid, 26, accidentally shoots self in head

DELTONA, Fla. – A 26-year-old man is dead after an accidental shooting at a Deltona home Saturday evening, according to the Volusia County Sheriff's Office.

Detectives identified the victim as Dalton Kincaid.

Deputies said the fatal shooting happened at a home on 2692 Corrigan Drive at 5:45 p.m.

Witnesses said a roommate had just returned from shooting at a gun range.

The roommate complained of a problem with his handgun. He then set the weapon on a kitchen counter and watched Kincaid pick up the gun to inspect it, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The roommate turned around to open the refrigerator and heard the gunfire. The roommate and two other people were at the house at the time of the shooting. They all rushed to the victim's aid and called 911 for help.

Kincaid, who was shot in the head, died moments later, deputies said.

Investigators said the incident appears to be an accidental, self-inflicted shooting.
