Video shows woman, 79, knocked to ground during ATM robbery

Daytona Beach police seek information about suspect

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A 79-year-old woman was robbed Wednesday at a walk-up ATM in Daytona Beach, police said.

The robbery was reported at the Wells Fargo on West International Speedway at Clyde Morris Boulevard.

Authorities identified the suspect as Jay Thomas, who is also wanted in Pennsylvania on charges of violation of probation, robbery and armed carjacking.

Daytona Beach police said the woman used the ATM and was robbed by a man who was standing behind her. 

In video posted by police to Facebook, the man is seen confronting the woman. Police said the man told the victim he was "coming to help her" and as he approached, he grabbed $80 from her hand, pushing her to the ground in the process.

The victim was not injured.

Officers said the thief was wearing a navy blue shirt and shorts. He ran behind a plaza at 1302 W. International Speedway Boulevard.

Strong Arm Robbery of Elderly Woman

This surveillance video was taken at the Wells Fargo Bank at West International Speedway and Clyde Morris boulevards, on July 4, 2018. The woman in the video was the victim of a strong-arm robbery by the man standing behind her.
