Driver sought in fatal road rage crash in Brevard

Jefferey Brookshire, of Orlando, killed in Beachline crash

MERRITT ISLAND, Fla. – Authorities continue to search for a driver who was involved in a fatal crash during a road rage incident in Brevard County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Troopers said the driver fled Saturday night after crashing into another car on the Beachline on Merritt Island.

Troopers said a Mustang and a red passenger vehicle were traveling eastbound on State Road 528, and the front of the red car struck the rear of the Mustang. After the initial impact, the Mustang traveled into the westbound lanes and was struck by an SUV, the FHP said.

The driver of the Mustang, Jefferey Brookshire, 58, of Orlando, was pronounced dead at Rockledge Hospital, the FHP said. His passenger, a 26-year-old Orlando woman was critically injured and taken to Holmes Regional Medical Center, according to troopers.

The FHP said troopers are looking for the red passenger vehicle, which has an “endless summer” license plate and a sticker on the back that reads, “Hammock Hippy.”

Anyone with information about the vehicle or its driver is asked to call the FHP at 407-737-2213.
