Man shot in Cocoa dies, police say

Shooting reported on Flower Mound Lane

COCOA, Fla. – A man who was shot multiple times Monday night in Cocoa has died, police said.

Cocoa police said they're still trying to identify the man, who was shot around 8:45 p.m. on Flower Mound Lane. Police described the victim as a black man who was about 35 years old.

The Cocoa Police Department said it received multiple 911 calls reporting a shooting and officers found a man lying on a sidewalk with multiple gunshot wounds.

Police said Cocoa Fire Department medics began life-saving measures on the man, who was taken by ambulance to a hospital, where he later died.

Detectives are interviewing witnesses, identifying potential suspects, establishing timelines and following up on evidence and leads, police said.
