Florida teacher faces video voyeurism charges, $250,000 bond

Hidden cameras found in changing area, deputies say

Mark Ackett

TAMPA, Fla. – Authorities say the video voyeurism case against a man who taught fashion design at a Florida high school just got much bigger.

Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputies arrested 50-year-old Mark Ackett on Sept. 11 after a Bloomington High School student discovered two cell phones hidden in the changing area of the classroom where students disrobe for assignments. Deputies also found three cameras and thumb drives in his desk.

The Tampa Bay Times reports Ackett turned himself back in Monday on 353 additional charges of video voyeurism and pornography, and he's being held on a $250,000 bond.

The Times reports Ackett told investigators he began recording students in January 2017. He also coached the girls' volleyball team.

Records don't list a defense lawyer.
