Pedestrian who came 'out of nowhere' fatally struck in Daytona Beach, police say

No criminal charges pending

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – A pedestrian who "came out of nowhere" was fatally struck by a pickup truck Monday night, according to the Daytona Beach Police Department.

Officers said the pickup truck driver, 44-year-old Franklin Connell, of Ormond Beach, was driving near South Ridgewood and Fremont avenues around 7:45 p.m. when a 59-year-old South Daytona woman walked into his path.

The woman died at the scene of the crash. Her relatives have not yet been located.

Police said the crash is still under investigation but no charges are currently pending.
