Third recent dog attack reported in Flagler County

74-year-old woman bitten on face

FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. – For the third time in recent weeks, a dog has bitten someone in Flagler County, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The most recent incident happened Monday afternoon in Palm Coast. Deputies said the victim saw her neighbor's dog, named Gunner, running through her yard and because the pit bull mix had been friendly on previous occasions, she leaned down to kiss him on the forehead.

The dog bit the 74-year-old woman on the face, causing her to fall backward, according to the report. The dog then bit the woman on the back of her right arm.

Deputies said the woman had minor lacerations on her nose, puncture marks on her arm and swelling on her knee from the fall. She did not require hospitalization but authorities did advise her to see a doctor as soon as possible.

The dog's owner said the canine was up-to-date on his rabies vaccination. She said she would quarantine the animal in her home.

The day before this attack, deputies said a dog mauled a 9-year-old girl in Palm Coast, leaving her hospitalized with injuries to her head, shoulder, legs and arms. On Oct. 26, a dog attacked a 76-year-old pizza delivery man, also in Palm Coast.
