UCF preps for huge crowds with ESPN's 'College GameDay' in town

Whose 'head' will Lee Corso put on?

ORLANDO, Fla. – Police are preparing for huge crowds as UCF gets ready to take on the Cincinnati Bearcats on Saturday night.

Fans were in full-on spirit mode Friday night as they waited at the front gate of ESPN's "College GameDay" pit.

UCF freshman Jackson Morgan-Elliott was first in line with his friend, Chase Cashion.

"It's just going to be a great night -- (a) good experience," Morgan-Elliott said.

"I am sure there is going to be a massive crowd here in the morning and I think that it's great that ESPN is giving us a little bit of attention that is a long time coming," Cashion said.

Security has been monitoring the Memory Mall area on UCF's campus throughout the day and will continue that into game day.

UCF's police chief said he expected double the normal number of tailgaters.

The police department is working with close to two dozen local, state and federal agencies. Fans can expect to see officers in full tactical gear, and they might not even notice other officers who are intended to blend in with everyone else.

As security focuses on safety, fans are focusing on a win.

"We used to dream of Lee Corso putting on Nitro's head, so the fact that (that) might actually happen tomorrow makes me want to cry because it's such a huge accomplishment to see how UCF has grown in the past few years," UCF alum Danielle Mathis said.

Kickoff is at 8 p.m.
