SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – A nonprofit founder is trying to raise money after someone caused more than $10,000 in damage to the group's headquarters in Seminole County.
Danny Trosset, founder of Sports 4 the Kids -- a group that provides sporting equipment to youth in need -- created a GoFundMe in hopes of relocating the headquarters since he says it has been vandalized on two different occasions.
"Every single window we had was shattered," he told News 6. "Glass was all over the floor. Our office supplies and equipment were completely destroyed. It looks like they used baseball bats and basically destroyed every single piece of equipment in our office that they could."
A report from the Seminole County Sheriff's Office shows that a maintenance worker discovered the damage at the property on Jitway Avenue in Sanford on Monday morning.
Deputies said that 59 window panes were smashed and a computer was stolen, although damage was still being assessed.
Pictures from the crime scene show shattered glass across the facility, bashed-in computers and office equipment and materials knocked over and scattered about.
It's unclear who is responsible for the damage, but Trosset said he's not sure he wants to prosecute.
"At first I did, because you have this immediate anger," he said. "Part of me says if it was just kids, I would love to be able to talk to them."
So far, the group has raised more than $2,000. Trosset is also asking anyone with 1,200-1,500 square feet of air-conditioned office space to donate to contact him.
