Illegally passing a school bus in Canada will now cost you your license

PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND, CANADA – If you illegally pass a school bus in Canada and put children in harm’s way, you will now get your license taken away.

A new law went into effect where drivers who fail to stop for a school bus will lose their license for three months, and possibly be fined $5,000, reports WMTW.

The law was passed in the Prince Edward Island province and will go into effect Dec. 8.

For drivers who violate the law to get their license back, they have to pay a $100 reinstatement fee, take a defensive driving course within six months and meet with highway safety officials.

The driver will then still be on probation for a year.

With all the recent school bus stop deaths, do you think a similar law should be passed in the United States?
