ORLANDO, Fla. – The bus driver involved in a fatal Lynx bus crash last month has resigned.
In a letter submitted Monday to the Lynx management team, bus operator Ronnie Bell wrote, "After careful consideration, I believe at this time, it is best for myself, my family and the company that I resign from my position as bus operator and retire for the company 12/3/18. I'd like to thank everyone for allowing me to serve as part of the team for so many years. Best wishes to all."
Bell worked for Lynx for more than 26 years.
Prospser Nazaire, 59, was killed on Nov. 16. He worked for Lynx for a little more than a year.
Orlando Police said when Nazaire’s bus became disabled he got out then walked toward the back of the bus. Not long after, a Lynx bus driven by Bell, ran into Nazaire and the bus. He died on scene.
People who knew Nazaire said they want more answers about what happened.
"I’d like to see justice brought forward," said Nazaire's neighbor, James Pringle. "He died and we want like a resolve to the entire situation."
Pringle said Nazaire was a family man who enjoyed his work. He said the crash begs the question, will the driver who hit Nazaire face charges?
"I don’t know how a person can crash into a stopped vehicle and they’re on the road, so it's kind of crazy," said Pringle.

On the morning of the crash, both buses were in service and fully operational, according to Lynx spokesman Matthew Friedman. However, safety records show a month leading up to the crash, the bus driven by Nazaire on the day of the crash was out of service for reports of smoke, oil leaking and a report of a bad battery. Records also show, Bell's bus was previously out of service to check tires. Lynx said the maintenance issues for both buses were addressed and/or corrected days before the crash happened.
After the crash, Lynx tweeted a picture of Nazaire with a message saying, "Always in our thoughts and prayers. Thank you for serving the Central Florida community. "
Many Lynx buses around Orlando are now showcasing message boards reading “In Remembrance of Prosper Nazaire."
Orlando Police officials said last month they didn't expect charges to be filed in the case and said Tuesday the case remains under investigation. Officials said they are waiting on the results of the autopsy.
