19-year-old woman returning home carjacked at gunpoint in Deltona

Victim not injured; deputies search for white 2002 Ford Escort

DELTONA, Fla. – A 19-year-old woman returning home was carjacked at gunpoint late Wednesday in Volusia County, deputies said.

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office said the armed carjacking was reported at 11:57 p.m. on Sanborn Lane in Deltona. Deputies said the victim was sitting in her vehicle in her driveway when two men approached her and asked for help jump-starting their vehicle.

Authorities said the victim declined to do so, which prompted the men to pull out weapons and demand she get out of her car. The men, along with a third man the victim saw walking on Sanborn Lane, drove off, according to deputies.

The stolen car is a 2002 white, 4-door Ford Escort with Florida license plate JELH76 with a Michigan State College tag on the front. Authorities are asking anyone who sees the car or has information to call 911 or Crimeline at 888-277-8477.
