BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. – An Orlando man has been arrested on suspicion of the theft of hundreds of gallons of gasoline, according to the Brevard County Sheriff's Office.

Esmerido Osorio, 51, was arrested Wednesday. Officials said the arrest took place after an agent with BCSO's Economic Crimes Unit observed Osorio at a gas station attempting to conceal himself from public view while pumping gas for an extended amount of time.

The agent suspected Osorio was filling a bladder tank in his vehicle and using fraudulent credit cards to facilitate the purchase of the fuel, officials said.

Osorio was stopped after leaving the station for a traffic violation, officials said. An investigation confirmed that the vehicle was equipped with two hidden bladder tanks that held an estimated 300 gallons of stolen fuel, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Officials said it was discovered that the passenger in Osorio's vehicle was in possession of numerous fraudulent credit cards.

Osorio has been charged with unlawful conveyance of fuel, officials said. He was taken to the Brevard County Jail, where he is being held on $3,000 bond.

Officials said additional charges for the possession and criminal use of the stolen personal information are still pending the completion of the ongoing investigation.
