ORLANDO, Fla. – The case involving Markeith Loyd, who is accused in the slayings of his pregnant ex-girlfriend and an Orlando police officer, was back in court Monday.
Loyd is accused of fatally shooting his ex-girlfriend Sade Dixon on Dec. 10 2017, and Orlando police Lt. Debra Clayton on Jan. 9, 2018, when she attempted to arrest him.
The judge overseeing Loyd's case cleared the courtroom and declared the hearing ex parte, meaning the issue can be decided without requiring all of the parties to be present.
Loyd's attorneys have recently filed motions requesting several pieces of evidence, including detailed reports about the weapon used and clips from interviews with family members.
It's not known what was discussed, but the judge filed two orders, both of which are sealed.
Loyd's first murder trial is scheduled to begin in May.
