ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. – Crime scene tape blocked off a portion of Cady Way Trail near Forsyth Road on Sunday.
Orange County sheriff’s deputies told News 6 they found what appeared to be a decomposed body back behind a wooded area. Jonathan Arias said he and his family, like many people who live in the area, use the nearby trails pretty often.
"I’m actually concerned now, walking all the time with my children, so to me, it’s a big deal," said Arias.
Right now, deputies say that because the body is so decomposed, they can’t release much more information. Many residents say they want to see more security in the neighborhood.
"You’ve got all kinds of businesses near here, so there should be cameras all over, I would say so," said Arias.
News 6 watched Sunday as many bicyclists rode by the trail wanting answers.
"Knowing that something like this can happen at any time, it’s actually raised some concern about walking during the day," said Arias.
Some people who live nearby were still shaken up Monday morning.
"I come down here. It's always peaceful, so it's just crazy to hear that. It's quite atrocious," Gabriel Pack, who uses the trail often, said.
Pack said the news of the investigation is especially startling because it comes about seven years after two teenagers were found shot to death and their bodies burned in nearly the same location.
Aries Lecorchick, who lives nearby and also uses the trail often, said it wouldn't hurt to have cameras installed along the trail, especially because there are several businesses nearby.
News 6 has reached out to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office for more information and is still waiting to learn more.
