Man faces murder charge in woman's shooting death in Orange County

Trevor Belair arrested in connection with Paula Anderson's death

ORLANDO, Fla. – A 24-year-old man was arrested on murder charges in connection with the shooting death of a 39-year-old woman earlier this month in Orange County.

Deputies tweeted Thursday that Trevor Belair, 24, faces a charge of second-degree murder for his involvement in the shooting death of Paula Anderson on June 3. He was also arrested on drug and gun charges.

According to court documents, a disagreement between Belair and John Bowden, the victim's boyfriend, led to the deadly shooting.

Court documents report Belair and his fiancee, Taylor McDaniel, showed up to Bowden's mobile home off of Old Goldenrod Road around 2 a.m. on June 3.

Deputies said Belair had asked Bowden if he could use his property to strip the decals from a U-Haul van he drove over to the home.

"I said, 'I'm not going to do it because it's stolen,'" Bowden said.

An argument between Anderson and McDaniel began, according to Bowden.

He said Belair and McDaniel were told to leave and said he thought they did, but minutes later, unbeknownst to him, he said they came back.

"Next think you know, they started shooting. Shot all the way down the house, all the way down through and hit Paula," Bowden said.

Anderson was found by paramedics in the back bedroom with a gunshot wound.

She was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where she died around 3 a.m.

"In the way it was down, it was cowardly. If you're going to shoot at somebody, you shoot at them. You don't shoot at them from the side of a house," Bowden said.

Two days after the shooting, deputies pulled Belair and McDaniel over.

Authorities said they found crystal meth on Belair as well as a 9 mm gun on the floorboard of the vehicle.

Investigators said the bullets in the gun were the same as the one that killed Anderson.

Belair is in the Orange County jail with no bond on a second-degree murder charge.
