WaWa video catches failed burglary attempt

Troopers arrest suspect in video

OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. – Sheriff's deputies have arrested Noel Rivera, 27, after surveillance video and a sketch were released in connection with an investigation into an incident at a WaWa station.

According to a news release, Osceola County Sheriff’s Office deputies went to the WaWa gas station at 2184 East Irlo Bronson Highway after getting a call regarding a burglary with battery.

The victim told authorities she was still inside her car after pulling into the parking lot next to a gas pump when Rivera walked toward her vehicle.

Rivera opened her door and pushed his way into the vehicle and began to hit her.

According to officials, Rivera didn't say anything and left once the woman began to fight back.

Authorities say, Rivera left the parking lot and traveled east toward Florida's Turnpike.

Authorities released this sketch of Rivera hoping it would lead to an arrest.

Almost one week later, deputies identified Rivera and he agreed to be interviewed. When the interview had concluded, Rivera confessed that it was him in the video.

He was arrested and charged with occupied burglary and battery.

"We would like to thank the great work and dedication of the Sheriff's office criminal investigation until in this case. Their excellent investigative skills and relentless pursuit of identifying the suspect led to the arrest of this suspect," the Sheriffs Office said in a news release.
