CELEBRATION, Fla. – An elderly couple was found dead in their Celebration home Thursday morning after a murder-suicide, Osceola County deputies said.
Sheriff Russ Gibson said an 84-year-old man and 83-year-old woman were found dead at their Celebration home, located at Eastpark Drive, around 5 a.m. The man was found on the backyard lawn and the woman was found inside the residence, authorities said.
Deputies found a gun at the scene Thursday and said it appeared to be a murder-suicide. On Friday, investigators confirmed that it was a murder-suicide and that both victims died of gunshot wounds.
There is no previous history of violence at the home, and no signs of foul play or forced entry into the home were found.
"This is an isolated incident," Gibson said. "We want to let the people of Celebration know that you're not in any danger."
Gibson thanked the citizens of Celebration for their cooperation during the investigation and urged people to call the elderly services division at the Sheriff's Office if they ever think an older neighbor is in need of assistance. The number is 407-348-2222.
"Our hearts and thoughts go out to the families -- the deepest condolences," Gibson said. "It just breaks your heart. You don't ever want to see things like this."
