Man shot, killed in dispute with Canaveral Groves neighbor, deputies say

Deputies investigate fatal shooting on Fishtail Palm Avenue

CANAVERAL GROVES, Fla. – A man was shot and killed Thursday night in Canaveral Groves in an ongoing dispute with a neighbor, deputies said.

The fatal shooting happened around 8 p.m. on Fishtail Palm Avenue. Bobby Potts, who lives nearby, said his Nest camera captured the shooting.

"That's it, the guy in the golf cart shot the guy in the truck," Potts said.

The Brevard County Sheriff's Office said deputies were called to a shooting in the area and found a Cocoa man injured. Potts said he heard multiple gunshots and saw the man was shot in the chest.

"He was, I don't know, he was saying, 'I can't breathe, I can't breathe,' they were putting him in the ambulance, they were putting him on the board and he died on the way to the hospital," Potts said.

The man, whose name has not been released, was taken to a hospital, where he died, according to deputies.

The Sheriff's Office said a preliminary investigation determined that the shooting appears to be related to an ongoing dispute between neighbors. Potts said he doesn't know what the argument was about.

"I checked (with) my friend out here and nobody knows anything about it," Potts said.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Agent Jennifer Straight of the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office at 321-633-8413 or Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS (8477).
